With our children grown and gone, these Chinese Shar Pei are our "Babies".
It has been said that a Shar Pei has the IQ of a 3 year old child and the emotional level of a 2 year old!
While we can't attest to that statement, we can without hesitation state that they are a highly intelligent breed,
with an uncanny "human" sense-of-humor that will amuse you to no end!
This page is dedicated to our "Babies", our "Kids with Paws"
We sincerely hope that you enjoy their pictures.
We are very proud of our "Kids with Paws".

Bones about it
Introducing "Max" (short for Maxmillian), our newest "Kid with Paws"

Max is an old Gentleman who came from a Puppy Mill closure in Jackson County Tennessee. Against all odds of being euthanized, he was spared by a lady with a big heart and too many other dogs herself. But she kept Max out of harm's way until an ear "issue" required a visit to the Vet, who got her in touch with us. They visited and Max stayed. His vision in somewhat impaired from Entropian and he is an "Intact" (not neutered) male. Too old for surgery, he can just like out his days in comfort with our clan and receive all the loving and attention this old Gentleman deserves. Save a life, adopt. Older dogs still have a lot of love to give, and they are grateful and eager to please.

Max is a Fawn color Brushcoat with a huge meatmouth and tiny ears. His Big Feet and legs are like small tree's!~! As with Charly, help save a life and Stop the Puppy Mills. Adopt instead. Read about Shar Pei Rescue Here.

Introducing "Charly Chan", our youngest "Kid with Paws"
Charly is one year old and came from the Atlanta, Georgia
area where he was found as a stray. He was named "Prancer"
because of the way he prances when he walks. Very skinny with
bones showing all over he is a very docile and happy guy. Although he
is thin now (40#) he will have his hair back and meat on his bones in no time.

Charly is a Dark Cocoa, almost black color Brushcoat (longer, softer hair) Shar Pei.

The light colored area around his eyes is from Entropian {blepharoplasty surgery} eye surgery.

Charly was adopted from Chinese Shar Pei Rescue of Tennessee on December 2, 2006. Thank you Cindy !~!

As Our Dog's Think We Are
By: Joseph J. Mazzella

I read a saying recently that seemed to be true for me. It went: "Someday I hope to be as good a person as my dog thinks I am."

After reading it, I looked down at those wonderful, furry, four-legged angels curled up at my feet and saw the love in their eyes when they looked at me. I knew that I wanted to be the loving, kind, and joyous person that they saw.

My dogs always seem to bring out the best in me. Their unconditional love always warms my heart and brings the goodness out of my soul. They never seem to mind when I am walking them if I stop to watch the sunrise, gaze at the evening stars, or look at the beautiful Autumn leaves.

They are always eager to join in with me when I sing, or jump around with me when I dance. They play fetch or tug-of-war with boundless energy and enthusiasm and never seem to mind when my arm gets too tired to go on. They are always there to lick my hand and put their head on my knee when I am feeling down and they're always there to jump on my lap and lick my face when I am full of happiness.

They are there to greet me in joy and love every time I come home and will forgive me any wrong for a pat on the head and a gentle tone of voice. They listen to me, love me and think I already am the person I strive to be.

I think there is a reason the word "dog" is God spelled backwards. God loves us unconditionally, just as our dogs do. God offers us His love freely, just like our furry angels do.

God sees the best in us just as our puppies do. Maybe God created dogs so that we could see through their eyes the person we were meant to be. All I know is that I may never be as loving, giving, joyous, kind and good as my dogs think I am, but I will always try, moment by moment, to live up to their vision of me. May we all, one day, be as good as our dogs think we are.

Famous Dog Quotes

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true,
to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
-- Author Unknown

My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.
-- Author Unknown

One reason the dog has so many friends: He wags his tail instead of his tongue.
-- Author Unknown

Dogs wait for us faithfully.
-- Marcus Tullius Cicero
